Can Replacement Dual-Path ECU Service Pack F58VV Be Used in Place of Older F9489 ECU

Updated 08/14/2024 | Published 08/07/2024

Question:

I currently have an F9489 ECU installed, along with a 150psi tank. The remote has horrible distance I cant control it from inside the truck, and its starting to die. I have to push on the back of the remote just to be able to get the lights to turn on. Is the F58VV a good replacement for the F9489?

After looking at the installation procedures, I see there is a red/white wire that powers the compressor. I already have a compressor wired, so I won't need to connect the red/white wire to power mine. But will this give me any issues if I don't connect it and cap it off?

@JasonB You will need to connect that wire harness from the Dual-Path ECU Service Pack # F58VV to your compressor so they can communicate with each other. If you don't connect that wire then the ECU won't be able to tell the compressor to turn on.

@JonG My compressor runs every time the tank gets below 120 psi because it's hardwired in and has a pressure switch.

@JasonB I reached out to my contact at Firestone to double check and they said the ECU has a pressure sensor in it so you'll need to switch the connection to the ECU instead so it works properly.
