What Causes Trailer Shackles to Flip Over Equalizer
Updated 08/08/2024 | Published 08/05/2024 >
Question:
I bought this old trailer and it has the equalizer that is not familiar to me. My problem is that the rear shackle flips too easy and then I got tires touching. It stays rocked down in the front. I can not find info on it at all. Can you help?

Hey Timothy, if your trailer is sitting level and this problem is happening then that would indicate your leaf springs or equalizers are too long. .If it's only happening on one side that would indicate that side has a worn out spring that is stretched/flattened. What you have is an unusual style of equalizer but if you can get me the distance between the hole centers and your leaf spring lengths I can see what you would need.

Would it be more beneficial to cut all this suspension off and put a more common setup on there? Thinking about changing the axles anyways
