How Can I Determine What Size Bearings Will Fit My Spindle

Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 07/29/2024

Question:

I have a 2004 5ish x 10 Snowbear Utility Trailer. I need a hub kit or bearings for it. There was nothing left of the bearings when I took it apart and only a number on the hub as shown in the picture. Can you tell me what I need to order?

Hello Steve, I can definitely point you in the right direction. Unfortunately, I am not able to tell you exactly what bearings you need based on the axle tag. The 2,720 lb capacity and the shape of the spindle indicate your axle may use the standard 3,500 lb bearing sizes, those being the # L68149 (1.378" inner diameter) inner bearing and the # L44649 (1.063" inner diameter) outer bearing.

Since your bearings are gone, the best way for you to confirm fitment will be to get a digital caliper and measure the spindle where the bearings ride. The picture below will show you how to measure a spindle to determine the bearing ID. If you can confirm the ID of each bearing I am happy to look into it and see what we can offer you.

Hey Steve, were you able to measure the spindle on your Snowbear trailer to confirm which bearings fit? Once you have those sizes, it’ll be easier to match the right hub kit. Your update could make it easier for others working on similar trailers.
