Will Curt Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Need to be Modified to Fit Base Rails
Updated 07/26/2024 | Published 07/25/2024 >
Question:
Hello - I have read alot about this product and the only problem that seems to be universal is that the Welded tabs are not correctly done. I do not want to grind anything so as to not effect the integrity of the plate. Has the manufacturer fixed that problem. Thank you.

Thanks for reaching out, Laurie!
I looked through the feedback we've gotten from customers concerning the Curt Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # 16055 and I only saw one instance where someone said they needed to modify the tabs. It's safe to say this is very uncommon and you won't have to modify the plate or tabs in any way as long as you have industry standard base rails in your truck.
Attached is a photo of the dimensions for industry standard rails that you can use to reference against your own and make sure they match.

Thank you very much. I have just purchased a truck with a 16K reese 5th wheel. I need to ditch that so I can tow my horse trailer. I presume this is safe enough for hauling my beloved horse. I am really used to an atwood fold down ball, seems safer to me, but I am not sure if i can have on of those installed since the rails may interfere. Figured I would try this first as long as it's safe.
