Is Height of Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch For 2023 Ram 2500 From Top of Base Rails

Question:

I am researching a new 5th wheel hitch setup for a Grand Design Reflection 150 series on a 2023 Ram 2500 6.5’ bed, with a gas motor. My previous Reflection had 2200lb hitch weight and the new one is only 1100lbs. This runs extremely nose high partly due to less suspension squat on the truck. When I look at hitch options they show heights of say 13-17”. Is this measurement including the rails? Or from the top of the plate to the bottom of the feet? Hitch only

Hi Gary,

Good question, and the height of the sliding 5th wheel hitches for your 2023 Ram 2500 short bed are taken from the top of the bed rails. So for example, the outstanding Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider # C23DR has a height of 17-1/2 - 21-1/2 inches, and that height is taken from the top of the base rails to the top of the 5th wheel hitch.

Hey Gary, did the height info for the Curt A16 help you figure out the right setup for your Ram and Reflection 150? Knowing how that measurement worked out could really help others fine-tuning their hitch height.
