Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 07/02/2024

Question:

Good day I have a 2010 Keystone Cougar 318SAB and desire to convert the brake system to rotors. Does your team or could your team generate a recommended list of parts for this conversion? Best regards Jim

Hi Jim; I can definitely help you get the right parts but I'm going to need some more information. You will have to find your axle capacity to make sure you get the right brakes. More than likely this can be found on the axle tag on either of your axles. If I had to guess you have 5,200 lb axles on there now. Based on that information I recommend the following:

-Kodiak Disc Brakes - 12" Hub/Rotor - 6 on 5-1/2 - Dacromet - 5.2K to 6K - E-Z Lube # KOD69FR

-Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit - Tandem Axle - 20' # 20TA-BLKIT

-Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes - 1,600 psi # HBA16

You will already have a 7-way from your electric brakes, along with a brake controller. If you don't already have a breakaway kit you will want to add one like the # 20400. If you find that your axle is a different capacity and not a 5,200 or 6,000 lb axle please let me know in the comments below.

Hey Jim, were you able to confirm the axle capacity on your Cougar so you could move forward with the disc brake conversion? Knowing what you found would help others planning a similar upgrade. Your update could make it easier for the next person with the same setup.
