Recommended 2-5/8" Shackle Strap

Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 06/30/2024

Question:

I have a 2007 McClain tandem axle aluminum trailer and am needing help on figuring out whether or not these are 2 1/2 inch shackles or 2 5/8 inch shackles. I am not sure if it’s because they are worn if they is the reason why it seems a bit difficult to determine. Also would the bushing itself be a 9/16” with a 3” bolt? I have determined that the equalizer measures 7 3/4 inches. Just looking for answers so I can get the correct parts ordered!

Thanks for the picture! I would say yours is 2-5/8" which means you can replace them with the Replacement Shackle Strap item # 115052 you were looking at. The bolt diameter is going to be 9/16" for these links. You'll need to measure the entire length of your current bolts, including the bolt head to get the correct replacements.

Hey, how did things turn out with the 2-5/8 inch shackle straps for your McClain trailer? Did the 9/16-inch bolts end up matching your setup once you measured the full length? Your update could make it easier for others working on similar trailers.
