Can I Reduce The PSI On My Load Range G Trailer Tires?
Updated 06/25/2024 | Published 06/24/2024 >
Question:
Hello eTrailer, Ive got a 5th wheel that requires tires to be able to handle 2850 lbs per tire. I upgraded to Load Range G just to be extra safe. Those tires max out at 110 psi and can handle 4,000 lbs per tire. My question is this. Can I reduce the psi on my Load Range G tires? My load will not exceed 2850lbs per tire and Id like to soften the ride a little bit if possible. Best....................Mike

Hello Mike, thanks for reaching out. We do not recommend that you lower the PSI on your tires. Trailer tires should always be inflated to the maximum PSI listed on the sidewall. The load capacity of the tire is dependent on them being inflated properly. Lowing the PSI lowers the capacity to an unknown rating. This can potentially lead to overloading the tires.

Thanks, Jesse, Thanks for your help. I was hoping there might be a chart or formula that would allow or designate a lower PSI for lesser weights. Have a GREAT Day......................Mike
