How to Adjust the Cam Blocks on the Curt TruTrack WDS
Updated 02/17/2026 | Published 06/15/2024 >
Question:
I jam installing my curt 17500 wdh i purchased from you. I have a question on the bars. In the preship adjustment they are set in the 30 degree position. In that position you need to hold out on the bar to seat it. In the 70 degree position the bars are way out and would need to be push in a ways, probably 6 plus inches. Which is the correct setting. THANK YOU. Al Koenigs

Alan, the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # C17500 is designed to work in two neutral spring bar settings to fit most A-frame trailers. The spring bars can be repositioned in the 30° or 70° position (+/-5°).
So for your ~76° trailer I'd recommend trying to adjust the cams. To adjust them, remove the cotter pins from the castle nuts, then remove the castle nuts, bushing sleeves and springs. Next remove the carriage bolts from the top while holding the socket in place. With the head resting upside down, carefully remove the socket with the bushing and balls. Looking at the cam block in the head, pull the cam block out and rotate it outward to the next position.
Once the cam blocks are adjusted you're going to need to follow step 3 on page 2 of the instructions to make sure everything gets reinstalled and torqued correctly.

Hey Al, how did things go after adjusting the cams on your Curt TruTrack weight distribution system? It’d be great to hear if the new cam position helped the bars seat more smoothly. Your update could make it easier for others setting up the same hitch.
