I have a 2011 Ford F250. When I connect the trailer the dash reads trailer connected. Shortly it will say trailer is disconnected. If I touch the brakes it immediately reads trailer connected

Hey Gerald, this sounds like a dirty pin or a bent pin on the 7-way connectors. Try taking some sandpaper to the pins of the 7-way to see if that fixes it. Also make sure the pins aren't bent or damage and bend back as needed.
