Should Stop Light Switch Kit Be Installed with Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO on a 2021 Jeep Gladiator

Question:
I asked Demco how to correctly wire the Roadmaster RM-751497 brake light switch with their Stay-in-Play duo on a Jeep Gladiator and they said they do not recommend using it with their product. I have installed the Stay-in-Play already and I was planning to install the RM-751497 but now I am hesitant based on Demcos response. Can you tell me why e-trailer recommends the brake light switch so highly when Demco warns customer against using it? If I choose to install the brake light switch, what is the recommended wiring setup with the Demco unit with a wired indicator light?

Hey Joe, thanks for reaching out about the Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo # SM99251 installation on your 2021 Jeep Gladiator!
We recommend also installing the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751497 so that you get an accurate readout on when your brake pedal is being pressed. We actually shot an installation video of this kit being installed on a '21 Gladiator with the Demco system installed so I've linked that for your reference.
A lot of manufacturers have a blanket statement saying they don't recommend using their product with something from a different manufacturer simply because they don't have the means to test everything out for compatibility. Here at etrailer we have the luxury of carrying multiple different products so we can mix and match when it makes sense, and for your vehicle it makes sense which is why we have a different opinion than our good friends at Demco.
