Replacement Hub/Drum and Brake Parts For a Mobile Home Axle
Updated 04/08/2024 | Published 04/07/2024 >
Question:
I’d like to replace both brake and hub assemblies on one of the axles on my triple axle flatbed. The trailer was homemade in the early 1980s and I bought it from somebody a few weeks ago. The bearings must not have been in great shape as one failed and the entire wheel and hub assembly came off while I was driving the other day. The trailer capacity is 15k lbs, so I’m assuming this axle is in the 5k capacity range. The axle is about 61.5” from hub to hub and 75” overall. The tires/rims are 8-14.5” with a 5 spoke pattern. I’ve included photos. Do you have anything that would work?

Based on your image it appears you have an old mobile home axle on our trailer. These axles were designed to not be rebuilt and thrown away when they became damaged which is why you saw complete axle assemblies carried as spares on the trucks that hauled the mobile home to its destination. If you can disassemble one of the hubs and measure the spindle and hub for the correct size bearings, races and grease seals I can see if we have anything that will fit your hubs. Otherwise for an exact replacement size axle you would have to have them special ordered from a local trailer dealer.
