Question:

SmartPlug RV and Marine Power Inlet and Connector - 30 Amp - Stainless Steel I have a 2020 Airstream Caravel 19cb and would like to change to this plug system. Will it fit?

Hi Paul,

You can definitely swap out your current power inlet to the SmartPlug RV and Marine Power Inlet # SM67FR, but you might need to make some adjustments to the cutout hole. Most of the SmartPlug inlets I've installed have all been fairly close to fitting to where I may have only needed a file to help with centering the inlet in the circle cutout by filing little notches for the square corners of the new inlet. A lot of the time they just pop in though.

I've attached a video below where I had to make a cover plate because the previous inlet was much larger that the plate for the inlet. I just cut a rectangle out of a piece of plastic we had in the shop, rounded the edges to match the cover plate of the inlet, and then cut a large enough hole for the inlet housing to pass through. You'll want to pick up some butyl tape # AL28FJ and non-sag sealant # 344270341437-1 (white) or gray # AL33KV to create a waterproof seal.
