Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2010 Chevy Avalanche LTZ

Updated 03/28/2024 | Published 03/20/2024

Question:

Hi, I have a 2010 Chevy Avalanche LTZ with full tow package including the stock GM transmission cooler. I want the best upgrade for the trans cooler I can get. Would it be better to get the 11x12 Derale series 8000 and replace the stock cooler altogether, or to get the 11 x 8 3/4 series 8000 and hook in series with stock cooler? Or other option? Thanks

Hey David, so the best option would be to utilize the current cooler you have now and then go with an additional one that installs down stream of it to get maximum cooling power. I would go with the part # D13504 that you referenced for that application and you'd be in a great spot.

You'll also want to use the fitting adapter part # D13035 to make the install a little easier as well.

Thanks. Will that unit physically fit beside the stock cooler in a 2010 Avalanche? The Yukon in the install video is a very similar vehicle but it does not have a factory cooler already taking up space behind the grill.

@David Yes, it will fit in front of the radiator without any issues.
