Should 30 Amp Breaker be Used When Installing Installation Kit For Trailer Brake Controller
Published 03/14/2024 >
Question:
Should’t I use a 30 amp breaker when wiring the battery to the 7 way connector’ aux using roughly 20’ 12AWG wire than the 40 amp breaker from the kit? Won’t the 12AWG wire overheat/melt before the 40 amp threshold is met?

Hi Andrei; yep, you're 100 percent right, you should use the 30 amp breaker. That's why for the installation kit I recommend using the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7.
The # ETBC7 comes with multiple breakers, including the 30 amp, which is what you correctly stated is the right option.
