Motorhome Door Rotary Latch

The last thing you want is to see your door pop open while driving a rough road. In motorhomes, this can be a dangerous situation. That's why Federal Vehicle Safety Standards require a secure latch. Rotary latches surround a pin on all sides, keeping the door shut and reducing wear from movement and vibration.

This style latch meets FMVSS requirements for use on motorhomes. This added security is why rotary latches can also be found on some travel trailers, so you can take on rough roads without worry.

I recently purchased a 2020 Keystone Cougar Half ton. It has the Bauer European style entry door lock. Unfortunately while on out boon docking at a state park we discovered that the deadbolt would not work. So we simply used the lower key lock to secure our fifth wheel while sleeping.
My Bauer entry part number was BP-29. I measured my BP-29 and called etrailer and confirmed that this BA26AR would work. It arrived a day earlier than expected. The replacement took about 5 minutes and was very easy to install. Madison at etrailer was very helpful.

The product is excellent! It would be nice if there was a keyless entry version for this door lock, but sadly there is not.

Ordered this RV door lock replacement because our existing one did not have a dead bolt. The new lock fit like a glove and was easy to install.

Installed on my 2012 Cougar. What a difference this handle makes. Now, by using my whole hand, it is much easier to open my door. It fit easily, and was installed in less than 20 min., including swapping the old rusty catch with the new and more secure one that was supplied. Looks and feels much more solid than the original. I would definitely recommend this RV door lock, and would purchase it again.

I replaced a hard to open door latch with this Handle and latch from Bauer. It is like a new door! The handle and locks are easy to hold and manipulate with weak hands. I get a comment every time someone touches it while entering our 5th wheel. I wasnt sure it would fit in the existing hole, but I was pleasantly surprised that it went in so easy! DO THIS UPGRADE!

These locks work much better than the stock factory side pull handle. Safeer too
since we have to grip the handle instead of pull which eliminates hand sliping off handle resulting in us falling backwards. That's why we purchased and changed locks.

This is the style door handle I wanted more than any other they had. I wasn't sure how easy it was going to be to install and after having finished I don't recommend anyone retrofitting this handle for the basic style door lock. There was a lot of door cutting and repositioning of the latch and striker plate. I'm very happy with the finished product and love having a handle I can grab and swing open with a natural motion. Just know that it wasn't as easy as removing the old and screwing in the new. Installed on a 2020 Grand Design Imagine 2970RL

Replacing A European Style Entry Door Lock On A 2022 Keystone Carbon 358 5th Wheel Trailer
The Bauer Products European Style RV Entry Lock # BA58AR is designed to replace motorhome locks so the cutout in your 2022 Keystone Carbon 358 5th wheel most likely isn't going to be the setup for this style plunger and latch. The door would need to be cut to allow for the latch to catch the plunger like it is in the attached picture (A) below. Replacement Entry Door and Deadbolt Locks for RV
We do have replacement RV Entry Door Handles like the Global Link # 295-000019 as well as deadbolts like the Valterra # L32CS3108 with 1" throw, but these are keyed separately as we don't have an all-in-one kit with both locks keyed. Alike. You aren't the first person trying to find this solution so I'm hoping one of our manufacturers comes out with an entry door and deadbolt kit keyed alike so you won't need to use 2 separate keys to get into your RV. Hi Cary, There unfortunately isn't a guide to tell us what door latch your Freelander uses so you'll need to remove the backing plate to your current latch so that you can see the cutout hole in the door and measure it. Hi Carmelo; looking at pictures this latch has a very similar style so the # BA26AR might work. However, since it is a motorhome the # BA58AR with the rotary latch would be a better choice. To find if this fits you're going to need to check the dimensions of your cutout. This is designed to fit a cutout that measures 7-7/16" tall x 3-3/4" wide and doors with a minimum thickness of 1-1/2". If it is a little smaller you can enlarge the cutout to make it fit.

The portion of the handle that's inside your trailer should have some screws you can remove to take the lock apart and gain access to the cutout hole.
