Question:

Installed on a 2002 chevy suburban with adapter Single green light comes on when I apply brakes with trailer connected Cant get the green bars to show with output adjuster or with manual push slide I have re-connected 2x, checked connections and cleaned connections with trailer and still no luck Any suggestions??

On certain model year Chevy and GMC trucks and SUVs there are some connections that need to be made under the hood to make everything fully functional. It happens on vehicles with or without the factory tow package.

Basically, it sounds like the power output to the trailer connector from the brake controller is not run. You will need to manually run it from where the wire terminates under the hood to the back of the 7-Way in the 7 oclock position. You can use wire # 10-1-1 sold in increments of 1 foot. I have included a link to a help article that should offer some useful information.

The wiring harness you should be using with the Curt brake controller is # C51342. The wires that go to the plug that plugs into the truck should be configured like the picture I have included. If the red wire is in the wrong place you will need to move it.

It is also possible that the stop light or CHMSL fuse is blow and you will need to replace it. That could be one reason for the controller not working with the brake pedal. But normally if there is no voltage at the back with the brake pedal or the manual override it means that the connection for brake output (blue wire) is not run all the way back.
