Question:

Hi, I’ve got a 2010 Honda Odyssey and our camper is a 2018 Jayco Hummingbird with Furrion backup camera prep. The camera we bought is an Amtifo A8 that is compatible with the Furrion wiring. It comes with an adapter to bridge the different connectors. The camera works fine with the monitor. However it does not function when plugged into the camper even with the tow vehicle connected, headlights on, or reverse lights on, etc. So I assume it is either not wired or connected correctly. Or do I possibly need to buy the 7 way vehicle power adapter FR87PR? I’ve seen that this is necessary for some newer vehicles, circa 2021 or newer, but is it necessary for my 2010?

If it works with the monitor but not when it's plugged in then it definitely sounds like there is a power issue at your plug. I'd recommend taking a volt meter # PT89ZR to your plug and make sure that the 12V pin has a full 12V going to it.

It also wouldn't hurt either to go through your wiring and make sure that there aren't any broken or damaged, and if they are replace the wire as needed and check again.

There is also a possibility that whatever adapter came with the camera that is faulty, so there is a possibility even if you were to use the 7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter for Furrion RV Observation Camera # FR87PR that you'd still have the same issue.
