Best Way To Get Hardware Inside The Frame On A 2024 Chevy Blazer

Question:
I recently viewed the installation video of a 2024 Blazer simple reciever. In the video it shows the tech fishing the pull through wire in the bolt hole to the end of the car frame. In your written instructions it says the hole between the bolt holes must be filed larger to accept the stop block. Which way is it? Im not fond of having filed metal on the car, because I live beach side in Fl. And exposed metal will rust. What about grinding the bolt stop to fit through the hole. And painting it before installation?

Good question. When installing a hitch like the etrailer Class 3 Hitch # e36YR on a 2024 Chevy Blazer, there is more than one way to get the bolts inside the frame rail. What we recommend doing is simply pulling the hardware through the hole at the end of the frame rail, as it will be big enough to fit the hardware.
There is a second hole near the two bolt holes that can be used for fishing the hardware but it would need to be enlarged with a drill or file in order for the hardware to fit. Some folks find this way easier because this hole is closer to the bolt holes. If you want to avoid filing the frame and risking rust, you can simply use the other larger hole at the end of the frame rail, exactly as you saw them do in the video.
We cannot recommend grinding the bolt stops or modifying the hardware in any way. I have linked our install video below if you want to take another look.
