Question:
I’ve seen y’all try to answer about brakes for Silver Streak travel trailers, so here’s another: 1989 model. HADCO Engineering axles. Need brake parts. 12” drums. 9k GVWR 35’ model. Not nearby to check as of today. What other info wanted? Thx.

That is a neat looking camper. 1989 was a good year. Honestly, the same answer will apply to the brakes on your 1989 Silver Streak Travel Trailer. The 12" x 2" brakes are still standard. We will just need to make sure that the brake mounting flange bolt pattern matches up. These days the 5 bolt flange, like on part # AKEBRK-7-SA is standard for the 12" brakes. I have included a diagram showing the dimensions of the standard 5 bolt brake flange for your reference.
We do not have a record of what brake flange Hadco used on their axles, so we will need you to confirm this next time you are nearby the trailer. I will tell you that we have heard accounts of some Hadco axles that do not have a brake flange, and instead have the brakes welded to the axle, making them difficult to replace. So hopefully that is not what we are dealing with.
If the axle does have the 5-bolt brake flange, the # AKEBRK-7-SA will be your best bet. The only other available option is the # 23-105-106-09 which is made to fit the AL-KO/Hayes axles with 4-bolt flanges which were much more common back in the 80s and 90s.
I suppose it would be nice to confirm the depth of the drum as well, just to confirm that it does in fact use the standard 12" x 2' brake shoes. If you can confirm this and the flange bolt pattern we will know what will fit and what wont.
