Solution for Replacement Hubs on Northern Tool Ultra-Tow 49803 Aluminum Trailer
Question:
Hi, I have an Ultra Tow trailer from Northern Tool: Id like to replace the painted hubs with galvanized. I live close to the ocean, and everything rusts. It seems to have 25mm axles 0.98inch on my calipers. Do you sell hubs that'll fit my 25mm axles? Ideally Id like to install 5-lug hubs, so that I could run bigger wheels and tires.

The bearings on your Ultra-Tow trailer are the 30205. Unfortunately, we don't carry any hubs that use this bearing combination. They aren't the easiest to find and I doubt you'll find them galvanized. There may be a 5 lug option out there but again it isn't something that we have. It is also worth mentioning that clearance could be an issue moving to a larger tire so keep that in mind.
If you aren't able to find a replacement that fits your criteria with those bearings the second best option is to replace the axle. This will give you more options for a replacement hub as well as replacement parts if you need them in the future. Your current axle capacity is 1,400 lbs so something like a 2k axle would do the trick.
The hub face measurement of that axle wasn't available so you will need to measure to see what you have. Based on the width of the trailer the only standard axle we carry that might work is the # e48GR. This has a hub-face-to-hub-face length of 60" and spring-center-to-spring-center length of 48". If that matches what is on there now then you can use it to replace your axle. This would allow you to use the # AKIHUB-545-2-G-EZ-2K which is a galvanized hub with a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern.
If you can't find an axle that matches your current measurements the other option is the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # ASR2000S01. This would replace the axle as well as the leaf springs. Only downside here is the cost is almost as much as the trailer itself. The same hub would work with the spindle on this system.
I have attached a video below which shows how to measure an axle along with some installation videos for your reference.
