Can EZ Gate Tailgate Assist Install Slightly Forward on Rail

Question:
My trailer has the chain on the gate retaining pin welded to the rear of the rail. Would the cable roller still be functional as designed if mounted about an inch and a half rearward?

Yes, if you installed the EZ Gate Tailgate Lift Assist for Open Landscape Trailers # 3375201000 slightly forward to avoid the retaining pin you have at the rear rail edge of your trailer it will still function.
