Will this hitch fit down in a recessed ball box on a flat bed ?

Yes, it will as long as the opening around the the gooseneck ball is large enough that the pin can be inserted. The end of the Gen-Y Hitch 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY38GR is 3-1/2" x 3-1/4". You will need to have at least 5" of clearance around the ball to be good.

The Gen-Y Hitch 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY38GR is built to replace the Lippert Rhino pin box. It has a towing capacity of 21,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight capacity of 3,500 lbs.

You will also need the Safety Chain with 2 Hooks for Gen-Y 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY49GR. These are legally required to tow with a gooseneck connection and are not included with the pin box.
