The only way to determine how big of an extension is needed would be for you have the camper in lace and measure how much it overhangs in the way of the hitch pin hole on the truck. You'll need to make sure the extension is rated for towing a trailer as some are only for bike racks and cargo carriers and you'll need it to be rated high enough for the GVWR of the trailer.

You'll also need to keep in mind that extenders reduce the capacity of the trailer hitch by 50% so you might end up not being able to tow the trailer depending on the weight.

For example, the Curt Hitch Extender # C45791 fits a 2" hitch, has a 3,500lb towing capacity/350lb tongue weight capacity, and provides an 8" extension from the hitch pin hole.
