Expert Reply:
It sounds like there is an issue with the fitment of the Side Plates # DM49GV in the bed mounts on your 2020 GMC Sierra 2500. The cams may have loosened on the arm which would cause play between the bed mounts and the hitch adapters. It would not make sense the plates are clunking between the Hitch # DM8550035 since they are bolted together and should not have play in them. Please inspect the cams for play and let me know what you find.
