Question:
2017 RAM 3500 with factory tow 7 way connector. I need to be able to switch from the magnetic connector on my main truck and trailer to standard 7-way tow connectors when using other trailers. Likewise, I need to install the magnetic connector in addition to the standard 7-way connector on my horse trailer, in the event that we need to haul the trailer with someone elses truck. Can I wire this so that my truck retains the standard 7-way connector, and my trailer hookup can retain the standard 7-way connector in addition to the new magnetic hook up?

Expert Reply:
The EZ Connector Magnetic 7-Way Trailer Connectors # 319-R7-02 you found uses a vehicle side connector which tee's into the vehicle wiring. This allows you to retain your factory 7-way and be able to connect to either the included magnetic or factory 7-way type connectors. Another option would be to use the Adapter # 319-R7-52 with the 7-Way # 319-S7-06 if you only want to have a single connector on your 2017 Ram 3500.
The Trailer Side Wiring # 319-R7-07 included with the kit above can be wired into the 7-Way Junction Box # 38656 so both 7-way connectors will operate. Another option would be to use the Adapter # EZ94ZR so that you would only have the single 7-way connector and not have to worry about the 2nd connector becoming damaged.
