Technical Bulletin Regarding Installation of Redarc Trailer Brake Controller On 2014 Porsche Cayenne

Question:

Installing EBRH-ACCV3-NA in a 2014 Porsche Cayenne pre-wired for brake controller. Have special Harness to adapt pin layout. I read about a relay needed to eliminate pulsing or something unusual on Porsche brake light signal? Also read conflicting opinions about whether relay is really needed? It runs Porsche Brake Light through relay coil to ground then 12 V through relay contacts to controller Brake Light. RedArc docs state you should avoid relay for Brake Light or user override would not work and you risk surges? If true, then how would controller react to raw Porsche Brake Light signal? Should I use relay in this situation? Any information you could provide would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I have linked our technical bulletin below you can reference which will help explain the installation of the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller # RED44FR on your 2014 Porsche Cayenne. The issue without the additional components(relay) is the brake controller will pulse when the brake pedal is pressed rather than applying the correct power feed.
