Question:
I’m at a loss. I have a 2023 Hyundai Palisade with the tow package. Obviously I understand the need for the hitch, etc., and you have a brake controller that is plug-n-play with this. With Hyundai’s problem with the harness in the rear, I can’t get it clear in my head what I need for the trailer brake wiring. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

You're not the only one who is at a loss, as Hyundai has made a bit of a mess of this whole thing with trailer wiring for the 2023 Hyundai Palisade - not to mention previous years. So I dug into this and there isn't an easy plug-in option for either the wiring or brake controller, regardless of tow package. You can still add a brake controller, you'll just have to do more wiring, and this is exactly what you'll need:
- Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C43FV
- Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat # ETBC7
- Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR
- Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro # RED69FR
You will first install the 4-flat, which will activate your trailer's lighting functions, and you'll then plug that into the 7-way that comes with the # ETBC7, which also gives you the wiring, circuit breakers, and rest of the hardware needed for installation.
I realize this is more of a pain than what should be just plug-in, but it's the only way to add an aftermarket brake controller. I've added links below to some video installs on a Palisade for you to check out as well which should help make things a bit easier.
