Will Curt 7-Way for 2021 Ford Ranger Work with Boat Trailer with Surge Brakes

Question:

so im about to buy a boat with electric trailer brakes. i was told i dont need a brake controller installed that with the 7 way it is all electronically controlled by when i just hit the brakes. so i was wondering if this plug would work with the boat trailer without the need of a controller inside the truck.

Your boat trailer has "surge brakes" which use the inertia change of you hitting the brakes to pressurize a master cylinder and apply hydraulic pressure to the brake assemblies to slow the trailer down. So you don't need a brake controller like you mentioned and all you'd need for a 7-way is the part # C56431 that you referenced.
