Question:

Hi eTrailer - I am looking at buying the Thule XT 2. On a Promaster 2500, will the bikes interfere with the back up camera? I have the Aluminess ladder/spare tire combo on the driver’s side - will this rack clear the spare tire? Finally will the top of the bikes stick above the roofline if the rack is set high enough to clear the spare tire? I am attaching a photo below

The Thule Elite Van XT 2 Bike Rack for Ram ProMaster Rear Door # TH302013 looks like it won't obstruct your backup camera however I'm more worried about the rack clearing your ladder/spare tire. From what I can see, it doesn't look like this rack will as you can see in the attached photo where someone with a very similar setup as yours is using this rack.

Since you have a hitch already on your ProMaster, I recommend using a hitch mounted rack like the Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # HLY64FR.

This rack is not only more cost effective than the Thule Elite Van XT, but it also has a much higher per bike capacity at 80 lbs per compared to the Elite's total capacity of 77 lbs and will stick out far enough for your ladder and spare tire to clear it.
