can the handle be shortened by a couple inches ?

Expert Reply:
The MORryde RV Door Latch Extender # MR22JR was never designed to be shortened as it has nuts welded into the ends of the tube which allows you to mount the ends which attach to the door and handle. If you were to shorten it you would either need to cut a section out of the middle and have the 2 ends welded together or have a new weld nut inserted and welded inside the cut end of the pipe.
Some Foam Grip Wrap # FP-1002-R can be used to cover the welded section and provide a more comfortable grip. It also helps to reduce the hot temperatures the steel handle can reach if exposed to direct sunlight.
