Question:
Hi, my utility trailer has broke springs, and I’m thinking about upgrading for higher capacity. Currently on 3500lb axle with 2000lb springs 1000 each. It is 1-3/4 wide 20-1/2ish in length, and with shackle is virtually vertical. Can I get away with 23-1/8 springs with current shackle turn almost horizontal, or do I need to upgrade the shackle to longer one as well? Thank you!

Expert Reply:
Your trailer with a 3,500 lb axle should definitely have 3,500 lb leaf springs, and they also shouldn't be almost horizontal, they should be closer to vertical (but still angled a bit). So if they are 20-1/2 inches now you can go to the 23-1/8 inch 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles # e59SR.
