This is a fairly common occurrence for motorhomes that are wired to work with a normally open circuit and the steps being used are designed to work with a closed circuit.
To fix this issue, you'd just need to swap out your door magnet with the Replacement Door Switch for Lippert Electric Coach Step # LC301694.
It also wouldn't hurt to go over your wiring and ensure everything is appropriately connected. Make sure the green is grounded to the chassis, the white is connected to the power switch which would then go to the positive battery post, the yellow wire is connected a keyed powered source, which means it only gets power when the ignition is on; the red wire is connected to the positive battery post on the motor, and the brown wire connected to the door switch.
If after you've confirmed your wiring being correct, you'd just then need to swap the door magnets out and you'll be all set.
