Does Redarc Tow Pro Elite Require Trailer Connection for Active Calibration

Question:
I install the towpro elite by red arc. Once installed when I push the button a blue light comes on this morning when I went to drive to work I noticed that there was no LED illuminated that being said do I need a trailer attached for the unit to come on with a blue light and flash between blue and green to sense orientation?

The active calibration of the Redarc Tow Pro Elite brake controller part # RED44FR happens with or without a trailer connector so you should be seeing the flashing between blue and green.
