Are Safety Chains Required When Using the Curt CrossWing?

Question:
I have a 2016 Ram 2500 with the factory gooseneck package not fifth wheel. Will the bed rails clear the sockets for the chain connectors? Are chains required for this type of gooseneck to fifth wheel hitch?

Safety chains are not required to be used with the Curt CrossWing Lightweight Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter item # C32DR. The chain connectors will not be in the way the bed protector supports will mount over the sockets.
