Question:
I need to upgrade my factory 4 pin to a 7 blade and I see two different answers relating to the need for the aftermarket relays. Do I need the relays or are they already there from the factory? Right now the kick panel connector is connected to another set of wires.

Expert Reply:
Since you already have a 4-Way installed on your 2005 Nissan Pathfinder the relay kit should already be in place, especially if you've looked behind the kick panel and that harness is already connected to something.
This means to upgrade to a 7-Way you just need the following wiring kit:
- Replacement Wiring Harness # 118282
If you want the ability to seamlessly switch between towing a trailer with a 4-Way to a trailer with a 7-Way then you can also pick up the Hopkins Connector # HM40975 and plug it on the end of the harness mentioned above instead of the plain 7-Way that comes with the kit.
