Question:
I have a dexter electric over hydraulic brake pump on my 35 foot gooseneck. All the lights work on it as should but when I hit my brake pedal and the electric pump kicks on when I let out of my brake pedal, the electric pump will not disengage it stays running until I unplug the trailer from the truck and then plug it back in and it stays off until I hit my brake pedal again. The blue wire from the pump is hooked to the blue wire of the trailer the black wire of the pump is hooked up to the black wire of the trailer which is 12 V supply the white wires hook the ground the yellow wire is not hooked up because this trailer never had a breakaway switch. I have it hooked to a 2005 dodge 3500

It sounds like you are needing the Dexter Trailer Breakaway Kit # 34-285 for your Dexter DX Series Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator # K71-650. The actuator needs to be mounted close to the battery supply for normal operation and by operating it off your charge line without a battery will cause it to malfunction.
