Troubleshooting Atwood Heat Pump Not Working On a 2017 Forest River FR3 Motorhome
Published 03/17/2023 >
Question:
I have an Atwwood AC-1511 roof top unit on a 2017 Forest River FR3. Recently, regardless of whether the furnace button is ed or deed it always defaults to the furnace instead of the heat pump. I suspect there is a problem with the display/controller. Thanks

With your Atwood you could have one of a few issues. Do note the heat pump is not designed to work in temperatures 45 degrees Fahrenheit and below. So if you are in temperatures above this you will need to check the temperature sensor in the roof top unit to verify it is not damaged. The display/controller as well as the wiring for it may be damaged which would cause the main control unit inside the ceiling air distribution box to not know what the wall controller is set to. Your best option is to have it tested by a service center rather than throwing parts at it and hoping for a fix.
