Question:
I’m interested in buying the hitch carrier, but concerned about the legality due to the items on the hitch covering my license plate. Is it legal to drive across the country this way?

You're not supposed to block your plates and it will give them a reason to pull you over. Since you are going to be traveling through multiple states I recommend using the Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket item # LP10SB. This will allow you to relocate your license plate so it is visible behind the Curt Cargo Carrier item # C18110.
If your tail lights will be blocked you can also use the etrailer License Plate and LED Tail Light Mounting Kit item # e98943-44LED.
