Question:
I have a 2012 Ford Fusion and am considering this bike rack. If I leave the bike rack on all the time, will I still be able to open and close my trunk? May I leave the rack on and still be able to use my trunk to say put groceries in?

Trunk mount bike racks should be removed when not in use. If you leave them on all the time they can leave marks on the vehicle in some cases.
You will not want to open the trunk with the bike rack installed. Doing so could wedge the hooks against the body of the vehicle or trunk lid and damage them. The hinges or struts for the trunk are not designed for added weight and also because of the extra weight the trunk could fall on you if the rack was still attached.
The Thule OutWay # TH45JV is a very easy bike rack to install and remove so taking it off when not in use is easy. What makes it so easy is the retractable cable system. The cables go in and out easily and the folding features of the rack make storage easy. I have linked a video review of this rack for you.
If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical mens bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # TH982XT. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have to use these adapters and without them my wifes bike would be at a severe angle and I would not be able to load my sons bike at all. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
