Is There A Direct Replacement Available For An Atwood G6A-8E RV Water Heater

Question:

I have a atwood g6a 8e. I dont want a gas/electric. I just want a direct replacement for what I have. Im having trouble finding a replacement. Can you help?

Since Atwood went out of business back in 2016 there are no longer any "direct" replacements available for their water heaters. Dometic bought their water heater line and slowly cut away every model so we're left trying to find the best alternative, which is now tankless water heaters like the Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR93FR.

The dimensions I'm seeing for the Atwood G6A-8E show 12-1/2" H x 16" W x 18" D, so I recommend going with the 16" x 18" Door # FR48SR to ensure your cutout hole is properly covered. You'll want to use butyl tape # AL28FJ on the inside of the mounting flanges for both the door and unit and some non-sag sealant # 344270341437-1 on around the outside of the door for a waterproof seal.
