Will Roadmaster Direct Connect Base Plate Kit for 2022 Ford Escape Allow Adaptive Cruise Control

Question:

Will the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit block the Adaptive Cruise Control sensor on my 2022 Ford Escape? I just received the kit and am preparing to install it. Reading through the instructions, I found “if the towed vehicle is equipped with ACC the sensors for these programs will be blocked by the tow bar crossbar and/or the removable ‘hidden’ arms on the tow bar mounting bracket. As a consequence the ACC system will not function.” Is the “tow bar crossbar” part of the base plate kit? I do not want to install and uninstall the baseplate every time I’m going to use it for flat towing, and I do not want to lose a significant feature of the vehicle.

Great question. So you can leave basically all of the Roadmaster Direct Connect base plate kit part # RM39FR installed on your 2022 Ford Escape and the adaptive cruise control will work. You'll just need to pull out the removable arms of the kit when not in use and you'd be set. You were probably already going to remove them when not in use.
