Question:

I have VW ski racks that are identical to the Thule 724/725 racks. I need four T-bolt/two-wing nut combinations to secure the racks to my VW Jetta Sportwagen roof racks with gutters. Your part 753-1897-03 looks exactly like the two-wing nut that I currently have but I do not know which T-bolt to order. The measurements of the T-bolt that came with my ski racks are: the head is 20mm 0.8 in. or 3/4 in. square the head is 3mm 0.1 in. thick the maximum length of the bolt including the head is 39mm 1-1/2 in. and the threaded part is 32mm 1.25 in. or 1-1/4 in. long and 6mm 0.24 in. or 1/4 in. in diameter. The maximum width of its matching two-wing nut is 34mm 1.3 in. and its total height is 23mm 0.9 in. with a base that is 12mm 0.47 in. high. Can you please tell me if you have a T-bolt/wing nut combination that matches the ones that came with my VW ski racks or is as close as possible? Thank you,

I went to the warehouse and pulled the Thule Load Bar Adapter, part # Adapt2, so that I could take the measurements you mentioned in your question. The overall length of the t-bolt is 38.9 mm. The square head measures 20 mm, the threads measure 32 mm, and the head is 3 mm thick. There are four of these t-bolts in the kit.

There are three other t-bolts included that are shorter, but have the same diameter thread and the head is also 20 mm square. The length of the threads of these t-bolts is 26 mm.

The Thule 2-Wing Knob, part # 753-1897-03, measures 33 mm wide, 24 mm tall, and the base measures 12 mm. Based on the measurements you provided, these should work for your ski rack on your VW Jetta Sportwagen
