I'm looking for a trailer hitch for my 22 Tesla Model Y and was wondering if this is something I could do myself or would I need to go to a Tesla dealer

For a 2022 Tesla Model Y there is currently only one compatible hitch; the EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH39FR. This custom fit hitch is designed to hide behind your bumper for a completely factory look and can be accessed by removing your knockout plate.

While the install isn't too challenging it is a bit time consuming and you have to be very careful to not scratch or scrape the bumper when removing and reinstalling it. You'll definitely need some trim panel tools # PT73HJ as well to remove some of the paneling when installing the hitch.

Overall this is something that you can do at home, but you'll want to give yourself plenty of room to work and time to complete the installation. I've attached a video below where Ryan will help walk you through this process.

If you plan on towing anything that requires lights then you'll also want to pickup the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # TK92VR as well. This wiring harness will plug right into your factory tail lights for an easy installation. You will need to run a power wire up to your battery so make sure that you snake it through the under carriage avoiding any parts that move or generate heat.
