Question:

We have a 2005 Winnebago Istaca motor home. When I closed the door and the steps were retracting it made an air ratchet noise. The steps only closed about 3/4 of the way. The magnets on the side of the doors work. When you open and close the door the light comes on. Is it the motor that went out? How can I find out the serial number to the motor? Attached is a picture I took , we have the double steps.

Thanks for the picture! It sounds like the gear box on your Kwikee 32 Series steps is going out. You will want the Replacement Gear Box and A Linkage for Kwikee Electric RV Steps item # LC379160 to replace it.

If you are worried it is the motor then you can replace it with item # LC379147.

If you want to replace the motor, gear box, and all the wiring you'll need item # LC379145.
