Question:

I currently have a Smittybilt winch on a bolt-on baseplate that worked with stock bumper. Want to add Roadmaster tow system. Is there a product that accommodates both the winch and the Stowmaster system in terms of baseplates?

Expert Reply:

I do have another option, however the Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar - Car Mount - 2" Ball # RM-501 that you mentioned is not going to be compatible with your Smittybilt bumper with a winch.

Instead, you're going to need to use a different tow bar, like the:

-Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount # RM-520, with the d-ring adapters like # RM-035-1.

You will need to also verify that your bumper is flat towable as well. You can do this by contacting Smittybilt and provide them your bumper's model number and they should be able to give you that information.

Also, with the d-ring adapters, you'll want to make sure that the adapter you choose matches what your d-rings have. For instance, the d-ring adapters # RM-035-1 will fit 7/8" and 1" mounting holes.

Additionally, to complete your flat tow setup, you're also going to need:

-A braking system # HM39524,

-A set of tow bar wiring # RM-152-98146-7,

&

-A battery disconnect kit # RM-766.
