Should WDS and Sway Control be Used for 2007 Lexus RX350 Pulling Safari Condo Alto 1743

Question:

I have Curt #13530 2inch hitch with Curt #51190 Echo under-dash brake controller on my 2007 Lexus RX350. Do I need a weight distribution hitch and a sway control system to tow a Safari Condo F1743? Thanks a lot!

Generally speaking you will want to use a weight distribution system if the trailer weighs more than 50 percent of the tow vehicle's weight. I looked up the weight of your Safari Condo F1743 and found that it weighs 1,742 lbs and since your 2007 Lexus RX 350 weighs 3,870 to 4,090 lbs you would not have to use a WD system but it wouldn't hurt anything and can only help. It will reduce sag, and also improve braking and handling. For a system the Fastway part # FA92-00-0450 would work really well based on it's tongue weight rating of up to 450 lbs.
