Question:
Tow Vehicle: 2023 F-150 Trailer: 2018 r-pod 176 Current hitch: Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW Part Number: EQ37060ET The hitch seems too heavy duty for the trailer. The ride is rough and I am worried about damage to the flimsy r-pod frame. Will a pair of these sockets EQ90-03-0400 fit the head of EQ37060ET and allow me to use lighter duty 400/4000 lb. EQ90-01-0499 spring bars?

Yes, that will work. The head used on your Equal-i-zer 6,000 lb system # EQ37060ET can be converted to the 4,000 lb rating by replacing both the spring bars and the spring bar sockets.
To do that, you'll need:
Replacement Sockets – # EQ90-03-0400 (qty. 2)
400 lb Spring Bars – # EQ90-01-0499
Those sockets are specifically for the 400 lb bars, so the bars and sockets need to be changed together. Once installed, you'll have a 4,000 lb/400 lb Equal-i-zer system.
Based on your setup, downsizing the spring bars may provide a smoother ride if your loaded tongue weight falls within the 200-400 lb range.
What's your trailer's actual loaded tongue weight?
