Does 6 Thousandths of an Inch Difference Matter when Replacing Dust Caps on a Trailer

Question:
My old caps mic at 1.980. Will I be able to drive this cap on? I am using an analog micrometer, but has usually been accurate. Im not a machinist. Is 6 thousands difference significant for this application?

When it comes to hubs 6 thousandths of an inch can make a difference between a fit and not a fit. But for grease caps it is not going to matter much. The fit needs to be tight so they do not fall out. So you can use # RG04-040 that you have referenced.
