Solution for Using Bike Rack With 2 Shank on 1-1/4 Receiver on 2008 Lexus GS 350

Question:

I bought your class 2 1 1/4 hitch for a 2008 Lexus GS 350 .. I have a bike rack that I wanted to use but it is a 2 reciever . Do you not sell a hitch for my Lexus that has a 2 reciever? I can get a 1 1/4 to 2 but then you get a lot of wobble what are my options

The Curt # C11372 is the only custom hitch available for your 2008 Lexus GS 350. A Class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver is often the only option for cars like yours since they don't have a high towing/tongue weight capacity.

It is possible that your bike rack can have the shank replaced if one is available. Some models have a 2" version and 1-1/4" version that can be interchanged. If you have the # SH22G you were looking at you could contact Kuat and ask for the 016-007. This would allow you to use the bike rack with a 1-1/4" hitch.

If that is not possible with the bike rack you have, the only other option would be an adapter unless you want to replace the rack. However, the problem with an adapter like the # e43YR is that it reduces the tongue weight capacity by 50%. This means that your hitch will only be able to hold 100 lbs including the weight of the bike rack.

If you decide to get a new bike rack the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 has a 1-1/4" model that is Class I compatible. The following colors are available:
